CAMPLIFIED 2010 IS ROUTING DATES AT CAMPS

December 6, 2009

Camplified 2009 wrapped an impactful summer at camp bringing bands, brands and campers together for a day of interactive games and rock concert FINALE! A look back can be found throughout this Camplified Blog but for a visual synopsis that showcases what the campers experienced see below:

Camplified Artists & Bands Part 3 of 3

September 16, 2009

There comes a time when all good things must come to end, such as the Camplified tour. But that does not mean the memories of great times and the sounds of amazing music cannot still live on, in us. This is the last installment of the bands that have graced the many different stages of the Camplified tour.

The first band I am going to talk about is a young group of guys, BYS.

Their music is of pop punk influence. Over the course of a few tour dates with them the Camplified crew was singing along to some pretty good songs. One of the crowd favorites was “Erased”. This is an upbeat song and sounds like a great old school punk song.

This next artist is a solo artist that has opened for the Jonas Brothers and many other bands of the pop genre. He is a funny, talented and kind guy. All of those qualities come through in his music. That’s right I am talking about the one and only Phil Bensen.

Phil singing at Day In The Park Camp

While on tour he entertained us many of times by creating a song while on stage in front of the crowd just by using a name, place, color anything you can think of that was shouted to him from the crowd. It was one of many great experiences, I will never forget while being on this tour. He had so many great songs for us here at Camplified to choose from but at the end of the day we choose “Slow Down”

There was this band whose music is really hard to define in music genre terms because they have so much going on in their songs. They have a little rap, some singing, some piano…have you guessed who I am talking about yet? That’s right! 2AM Club!

2AM Club singing their hit song Nobodys In Love at Camp Danbee

2AM Club singing their hit song "Nobody's In Love" at Camp Danbee

Their music had us wanting to get out on dance floor and dance the night away. Currently they are working on a full-length album that will hopefully be dropping by the end of this year. The song I have chosen, “Nobody’s In Love” was a crowd hit and was one of the songs that we played in our tour van over and over again.

I am at a loss for words on what to say about the guys of Duke Squad.

Rocking the house at Camp Mataoka

Not because they were bad because they were far from that, they were amazing! That’s what so hard is because you can tell right off the bat from meeting them that they are going to be huge! Their music is a pop punk genre but they remind me of a young New Found Glory. Their performances on this tour always got the crowd pumped and going. They even had crowd surfing at one camp to one of their songs!

While they did sing their own stuff they also covered a few hit songs that everyone loves such as “Ocean Avenue” by Yellowcard and of course “My Friends Over You” by New Found Glory. This band was a hit every camp they played at and they great to always be around. Out of all the songs we chose “Girlfriend” for you guys to give a listen to.

Oh no my time is growing short with you guys as you can tell we only have one more artist to talk about before Camplified Tour is officially at end for the 2009 year. I am really sad but as the band Queen says “…the show must go on…”.

This last artist hails from Barbados. He has a voice of an angel and some say he looks like Lenny Kravtiz between his facial features and hair but I must I think he is own person. That’s right you guessed it! New and upcoming R&B artist Jaicko.

Jaicko performing Can I

Jaicko performing "Can I"

Even though he was on only on a few dates at the end of tour he still made a lasting impression on the crewmembers and campers. His R&B vocals and background beats flow hand in hand together. While performing a song entitled “Perfect” at one of the camp’s he started singing acappella and had the crowd help him with the vocals it was truly a great memory that I will always had.

I really wanted to capture and remember Jaicko because he is so charismatic on stage and off. Below is a video I put together of some of his performances while on tour.

But the song I have chosen to showcase is his new hit single “Oh Yeah”. This song is upbeat and will be blowing up soon on the radio.

At the start of this blog I said “There comes a time when all good things must come to end, such as the Camplified tour” and I am afraid it is now officially at a close for the year 2009. I hope you all have enjoyed the blogs written by our crewmembers as we all agree we have enjoyed writing them for you!

All of the artists and bands mentioned in these past 3 blogs can be found on MySpace, Facebook and iTunes.

We look forward to Camplified 2010 and what great new exciting music that will bring to us. Until next time I say goodbye, good luck and always follow the sound of music for it will lead to good times, people and memories.

Ian’s cookies serves up at Camplified!

September 16, 2009

They have supplied us with some pretty cool swag like Frisbees to help the campers stay active, t-shirts with the saying “I’m A Healthy Fit Kid” and awesome backpacks. But, the most important thing of all is the healthy food they give us to pass along to the kids to keep their energy up!

Ian’s hooked up Camplified with Mini Chocolate Chip cookies and Mini Vanilla Wafer cookies (both items are 100 calories each!). Unfortunately for the Camplified crew had to sit next to these goodies for hours as we commute from camp to camp – it’s really hard to not eat them all – but we know that the kids will love them more than we will.

The demand for the cookies has been overwhelming by the campers that attend the Camplified tour dates. As weeks went on the demand was getting greater for these delicious mini treats. I know I am huge a fan as well as the Camplified crew!

One thing is for sure, “where are our cookies?!?”

Camplified 2009 Artists & Bands! Part 2 of 3

August 27, 2009

Hello Everyone!!! I did not want to leave everyone hanging on in wait to long for more the artists and bands we have had on tour this summer!

The first band up is a young band called Jersey Kidz.

Singing Rocking tunes to the campers

Singing Rocking tunes to the campers

This band was the youngest band ever to grace the stages of Bamboozle (a 3 day concert event held at Giants Stadium in NJ) and the connection they have with the crowd is amazing. Below is a song called “Jersey Kidz Rock” which really got the campers out of their seats and jumping up and down.

Girls, Boys and counselors at all the camps really took a liking to our next artist Misha Williams.

Singing to campers on stage :)

Her stage presence and personality both on and off stage really made for a great show and a wonderful person to work with. She is well known overseas and hopes to break through to the music market in America. I can say with certainty that will happen!!! Below is a song that is off her album “Take it Like it is”

On tour I had the pleasure of meeting a great rock band named Lansdowne.
Singing "Her Eyes Will Tell You Everything"
All the members of the band were extremely nice and they always wanted to interact with the campers. There music really got all of us moving. Right now, Lansdowne is set to open up for the bands Creed and Boys Like Girls. Everyone here at Camplified wishes them the best of luck! One of my favorite songs is called “Her Eyes Will Tell You Everything” taken a listen below.

The last group I am going to touch upon today is Faces Without Names.

Having the campers clap along to the songs

Having the campers clap along to the songs

This group is two young women who both sing and play the guitar. Just like all of the other bands, the campers and counselors went crazy for them! Their music is of a pop/rock influence and they really knew how to get crowd participation. The song below, “Rainy Day”, was a crowd favorite.

And as just a reminder all the bands and artists that I mentioned in this post and the first post of this series can all be found on MySpace and Facebook. In a few days I will post the last installment of this three part series so make sure you stay tuned because there is more to come!!!

CAMPLIFIED PARTNERS WITH PRIMARY WAVE MUSIC

Playing In Front Of 40,000 Teens And Tweens At Over 35 Different Camps

NEW YORK, NY, August 24, 2009 —In its 8th and most successful summer, the CAMPLIFIED tour played in front of 40,000 teens and tweens at over 35 different camps. CAMPLIFIED is a nationally recognized musical endeavor, providing teens and tweens at summer camps the experience of a rock concert, complete with the VIP/backstage experience.

The brainchild of Aimee Berger and Carl Freed (of Trevanna Entertainment), CAMPLIFIED was conceived in 2001 when Berger, frustrated by the dwindling monies being set aside for artist development within the record industry, had the idea to get back to grass-roots marketing.

“I started reminiscing about the good old days at summer camp,” recalls Berger. “I wanted to put a tour together that would bring emerging artists into the camps where there’s a captive and receptive audience.”

Berger partnered with Primary Wave Music in 2008 to help expand the Camplified brand with sponsors and create a digital community, www.camplified.com for campers online. “The CAMPLIFIED event is a unique marketing vehicle for both brands and bands during the summer, but best of all, the digital community being constructed at Camplified.com will allow the bands, brands and campers to interact long after camp ends,” says Berger.

At CAMPLIFIED events, the campers are able to interact with the performers, and participate inage-appropriate sponsored activities such as a Rock Band Competition presented by MTV Rockband. This year, other sponsors included Little Brown Books, Cartoon Network, YuGiOh, Scholastic Books, Ian’s Natural Foods, HP Computers and Sonicbids.

Lisa Ickowicz of Little Brown Books says, “It’s great for the sponsoring companies because they are able to reach their target audience to promote products while also adding to the kids’ camp experiences.” Ickowicz adds that the company wanted to jump on board because CAMPLIFIED events seemed like the perfect place to merge different forms of art, “It’s a great situation for the kids because not only are they having fun at camp, but they get the added experience of seeing a great new band or meeting a favorite author”.

Doug Pierce, the owner/director of the Pierce Country Day Camp said, “CAMPLIFIED did an outstanding job involving the kids,” says Pierce. “Their artists were camper-friendly. It really became an interactive event.”

The bands/artists included Jaicko, 2AM Club, Kicking Daisies, Duke Squad, Loomis and the Lust, Lauren Frost, Jersey Kidz, Misha Williams, Lansdowne, Taylor Bright, Phil Bensen, Rick Seibold and Faces Without Names.

Camplified 2009 Aritsts & Bands! Part 1 of 3

August 25, 2009

The summer has gone by so fast this year and I believe that is due to the wonderful artists and bands that we have on tour with us! As the saying goes, “Time flies when your having fun”. Over the course of the next three blogs I am going to give all of you a recap for the good-times and great music that I have the privileged to be apart of.

Taylor Bright

Getting to know the campers

Getting to know the campers

has been one of those artists that has made time fly by because of her energy and charismatic personality both on and off stage. She may be young but her but watching her perform and hearing her sing you wouldn’t believe her age! Below is a song entitled
“My Worst Best Friend”
this song has been a major hit among all the campers on this tour.

Another amazing young band but with older voices is Kicking Daisies

Rocking the Skate Park

Rocking the Skate Park

. Their music is of a rock/punk genre, with two female and two male members this band knows how to rock the house. A great fact about this band is the drummer for Kicking Daises is the world’s fastest female drummer! Here is a song that really got the kids pumped up!

“Go”

While we did have the bands and artists that were fast paced and got our bodies jumping up and down we balanced that out with music that was slower paced. Such as Lauren Frost

On Stage Performing to the campers

song “Handlebars” or Rick Seibold’s
Performing on Stage at a day camp

song “Thrift store Gypsy”.

While we had almost all music genres covered from acoustic/pop and rock/punk we were missing one more genre. Can you guess what it is??? Yep, that’s right, Country!

Loomis and the Lust

Playing some groovy tunes to the campers

Playing some groovy tunes to the campers

put on heck of good show with there feel good country sound. Kids and counselors where on the dance floor enjoying the sound that they were hearing! Here is a snippet of their song called “Bright Red Chords”

You must be thinking, “wow, Lisa there are so many artist’s and bands here where can I find them?” No need to worry. All of them can be found on Facebook or MySpace.

Camplified ’09 pulls through Oakland to visit Camp Matoaka!

August 8, 2009

Our time in Oakland, ME continued today as we visited Camp Manitou’s all-girls sister camp. The girls involved in today’s Camplified tour stop ranged in ages from 7 – 16 – and they were ALL excited. It was a great environment to walk in to! There were some talented musicians-in-the-making who taught us some tricks on MTV’s Rockband. A few of our own Camplified musicians were playing some tricks of their own with our sponsor HP’s MediaSmart Software.

Oh no, they're multiplying!

Oh no, they're multiplying!

Next up, we had autograph and signing sessions with all of the musicians. Each musician visited with each camper who came by – it was pretty special to see the artist-fan interaction. Here, Taylor Bright takes a goofy picture with some happy fans.

Everyone say cheese!

Today’s afternoon concert was pretty exciting. The girls were already super fans of Taylor and Misha Williams – they walked around camp singing the songs!

Duke Squad took the stage and were greeted by hundreds of screaming fans. These girls were ready to rock!

The concert was a huge success! Combined with the autograph sessions and the activities, the concert just topped off the amazing day that we had with the campers and staff at Camp Matoaka. It was a great few days in Oakland, ME – see you guys next year!

Oakland, ME welcomes Camplified!

August 7, 2009

Camplified ’09 visited Camp Manitou in Oakland, ME today. The all-boys camp was a real treat as the campers took part in MTV’s Rockband activities and played some Yu-Gi-Oh! with our experts.

Tonight’s concert featured sets from Taylor Bright, Misha Williams, and Duke Squad. The camp was ready for us – for the last few weeks, they’d been listening to the music of tonight’s artists daily. They were pumped for tonight’s show!

The evening started out with Taylor Bright’s set. You would think a teenage girl would be intimidated playing to a room of a few hundred teenage boys…but Taylor is no average teenage girl. She had them all in the palm of her hand in no time – and they came to visit her to say hello later, too.

Taylor puts on another great show for the campers at Camp Manitou

Next up was Misha Williams. Misha plays a great set filled with dance songs and some slower acoustic numbers. She has an amazing voice so even when she slows the show down a bit, the campers are still completely mesmerized with her and her performance.

Misha entertains the masses

Last up was Duke Squad. The Duke Squad boys are super high energy and always have a great time on stage. So, playing to a room of teenage boys gets pretty rowdy. The boys are jumping around and having a wild time within minutes – it’s crazy!

At the end of the night the artists sat and met with the campers – everyone connected through email or Facebook or whatnot, and all the kids left happily knowing they’d get updates on when they could see these musicians perform again.

Camp Manitou laid out a great day for the Camplified crew and artists. We had a wonderful time setting up the tour at camp – thanks Camp Manitou!
